Knitting Basic Socks
Knitting Basic Socks
One of my most requested classes is finally here! Knitting socks is not for the faint of heart, but they contain multitudes of useful skills and are a wonderful thing to knit and wear. This class keeps things at its simplest with a very well written pattern and thicker-than-standard yarn so you don't have a million tiny stitches on the needle while learning new skills.
This class will prepare you to knit a sock from the top down using the pattern "Rye" by Tincanknits. We will be learning to read a basic pattern, knit in the round using your choice of double pointed needles or magic loop method, knit a heel flap, turn a heel using easy short rows, decreases for the instep and toe, and lastly how to graft a toe shut without creating a seam.
Note: This is not a beginner class! Socks are a challenge for beginners. Please come equipped with knowledge of knit and purl. Knitting in the round and pattern reading is an asset but not required if you are brave!
Materials must be purchased/brought from home in advance of class time! If you need help choosing your materials or interpreting this materials list don't hesitate to ask. :)

Please be prepared to read this pattern in class. You can use the PDF obtained from the Ravelry link above on a phone or tablet (wifi provided), print a copy in advance, or use their WONDERFUL Tin Can Knits app for iphone or android. (I am not a knitting app person, but this one is actually great!!!)
